Baby Boot Camp

I'm boot camping my baby.  Ezra does this thing... all day long... he "Eh, eh, eh's" all freaking day.  I feed him play and talk to him and then I put him in his exersaucer so I can get some stuff done.  And he's happy for about 15 minutes and then he starts with the "Eh, eh, eh."  It's his "Hey mom, I'm bored and I want you to hold me." whine.  Well of course I can't just sit and hold him and play with him all day long but the Ehs were driving me nuts.  So here's what I started doing differently... When he starts fussing I start feeding.  I give him more servings of solid food through out the day which keeps him satisfied longer.  When he starts fussing again I make sure his diaper isn't dirty and then I lay him down in his crib and turn on his mobile.  And thanks to Curtis we now have a video baby monitor and I can just watch him cry/play/sleep since I mute the monitor.  He usually watches his mobile, plays with his toes, and chews on his blanket for a while.  Then he realizes that he's bored and cries for a few minutes, realizes his mobile is still going on, chews on his blanket some more and then falls asleep.  The only thing I don't like about this new system is he doesn't actually nap for very long.  He usually just sleeps for about 30-45 minutes.  But the whole ordeal is usually an hour and a half long which gives me a pretty quiet break where I can actually get some of the stuff done without losing my mind!
