New Orleans

Curtis has this really sweet step-dad, Keith, and his mother passed away last week.  I unfortunately never had the pleasure of meeting her but Curtis and I wanted to show our support for Keith.  We decided to go ahead and take the kids and also make a mini vacation out of the trip.  We got up pretty early on Thursday morning and made the 5 hour trip over to New Orleans.

These are the pictures from the first day.  We got out of the car and turned the kids loose in Curtis' cousins back yard.  This was also the first time Ezra was ever put down in grass.  He loved it.  We went out to eat after with Curtis' mom, step-dad, a few cousins and an uncle and then we headed to our hotel across the lake.

The next morning we got up and decided to go find a park on the lake to let the kids play.  We ended up in this really cute town Mandevlle and let the kids play for a while.  Then we had lunch on the lake.  We went back to the hotel and EVERYONE (and I do mean everyone) had a nap.  The wake was that night and after we just went back to the hotel.

Saturday the family spent the day saying goodbye to Erna Theriot.  It was a beautiful service.  Saturday evening Curtis' mom watched all 3 kids and his sister took us to the French Quarter.  It was really nice to get out for an evening with out any kids.  I think Curtis had a really good time.

I somehow didn't get any pictures of Lesley... Wonder how that happened.

Sunday morning we had breakfast with Curtis' grandparents from Arkansas before they headed home.  Curtis' mom, step-dad, sister, and her roommate.  Then we went to New Orleans Aquarium.  Coolest EVER!

The best part was they have this screened in area where you go to feed parakeets.  I mean they just come right up and land on you!  So cool.  Kennin and Curtis got pooped on.  It was funny!

OK, I decided to do a new thing... 10 Things I learned on our trip to New Orleans
1.  Curtis doesn't deal well with stress.  At all.
2.  But he does know how to apologize for it.
3.  Lesley has a really cool house with really cool roommates who let you borrow shoes when it's cold so you can walk around on Bourbon street.
4.  New Orleans is home to the 2nd longest bridge in the world. (Make sure your kids pee before you get on it)
5.  I wouldn't mind living in the North Shore area.  I loved the lake.
6.  Curtis and I need to get out more often.  I miss having time with him when we don't talk about kids.
7.  I am ready for a real vacation.  No kids.
8.  My kids are really well behaved.
9.  I want to learn how to make beignets.
10.  I'm still not a fan of sea food.

Thanks for reading :)
