On the 27th Curtis and I got up and headed to the hospital to be there by 8am. Kennin and Grayson had spent the night with my parents and met us up there around 9 along with Noel, Curtis' mom and her best friend. Around 9 my doctor came in and told me that he had a couple of hysterectomies to do down stairs and that it would be closer to 10:30-11:00 before he got to me (instead of the scheduled 10am). The kids came in and out of the labor and delivery room we were waiting in along with the grandparents.
Finally at 12pm they took me back to the OR and gave me my spinal and started surgery. It seemed like forever until they brought Curtis back. He said he wasn't nervous but his face said differently. It was different from having Grayson, it was less stressful and more exciting. I'm posting a video but it's pretty bloody. Just a heads up!
And then he was here! It was just amazing. I loved Curtis' response when he saw Ezra, it was so sweet.
Really, the next 24 hours are a blur. People came in and out, I apparently made plans with people for the following week. Sorry people, I was on a demerol pump! These pictures are from the first night and first meets.
The next day I got off the IV pain meds and got to take a shower. We had a ton of visitors and I just want to say thank you for showing so much support and love towards our little family. Kennin and Grayson were brought up by my mom and finally got to officially meet Ezra. They were pretty wild and kept running around the room so they didn't stay too long.
Curtis was amazing the whole stay at the hospital. I didn't change one diaper until the day we left (3rd day). He's completely in love with being a dad and he totally rocks at it! On the 3rd day Curtis had to run home to get Ezra's car seat and my sister packed us up back at the hospital. We were home by 2:30pm where Kennin and Gray were waiting for us along with my mom and sister.
Having Ezra has been easier than having the other 2 kids in a lot of ways. I don't hurt as bad from surgery, I don't hurt as bad from breastfeeding, and he sleeps longer at night (waaaay longer than Kennin especially). He has been harder to nurse though. He had a hard time latching on in the beginning and he was harder to keep awake. He's doing MUCH better with it now and wakes himself up every 3 hours during the day but has been sleeping for 5 hours at a time at night.
Kennin and Grayson are adjusting well. They always want to hold Ezra or see where he's at and what he's doing. I love watching the way they are so taken with him. I do think they are pretty bored being stuck at home so much. My sister has been staying with us and has been a lot of help. She makes meals, takes Kennin and Grayson places, and wakes up a lot with Ezra when he's up at night. My mom has also been coming over most nights and takes K & G swimming.
I think, for Curtis, it's torture going to work and leaving his family. He gets home from work and takes a shower and immediately wants the baby. They may stay in the living room with me for a while but then they go into Curtis' Man Cave and have some time to bond. It's very sweet. In the morning I catch him sneaking a kiss from a sleeping Ezra and it totally steals my heart.
Things are good!
